paperweight version 0.9.3-a1 of Oriole



today officially released version 0.9.3-a1 of Oriole. It is similar in functionality to 0.9.2 because it only has a few bugs fixed. Also changed the numbering of the versions and from this time each contain a letter at the end (followed by a number). The letters used shall be to: alpha, b: beta, rc, release candidate.

Another important thing to note is that with this launch its first Oriole has a distro package for GNU / Linux. The package in question is a. Rpm for Fedora 11 and 12 (i386) made by friend Edwind Contreras (aka
Richzendy ). Thanks for the excellent work. Below is a list of bugs fixed in this release:
Castilianized entire application (except for very specific terms)
Fixed bug that prevented saving the option to load color profile
Fixed bug that blocked the option 'Follow' from the context menu when the user has no friends
Fixed bug # 54 with notifications (the program failed if was not installed python-notify)
# 56 Fixed bug that prevented properly display the shortcut menu hashtags Fixed bug # 55
that prevented opening the profile of the author of a tweet

Fixed bug # 57 blocking the GUI to update and tweet while (deadlock between threads)

Now ... start.
Following an intensive course development proudly presented
0.9.2 version of Oriole, the Twitter client Venezuelan flavor.
Although only been 4 days since the release of the previous version 0.8.5

, there are a lot of new things and bug fixes in this new release.

The most striking developments:

    • If you already have version 0.8 installed . xy want to upgrade just enough that the 0.9.2 download and unzip the folder turpial
    • , replacing the previous folder. Everything should work without any problem and even should keep all your settings intact.
    • I must say that after an application such as Oriole many hours of programming, but also many hours of testing and debugging. Fortunately Oriole has a couple of beta testers star: Azrael Arocha and José Leonel Suber (aka Arawak). Excellent job guys.

0.8: More than a arepa Creole







About a couple of months I officially
first publication of Oriole (v0.6 ), an alternative to Twitter client for GNU / Linux written in Python.
At that time had only interface
for geeks text mode and a good repertoire of functions. Now, thanks to the collaboration of corduroy Azrael, version 0.8 bring a lot of bug fixes and new features, but more importantly ... Interface with normal people! : D has been hard work, there are still MANY things ending and others to correct (if you do not believe me look at the list of bugs and
todo xDDD
), but the important thing is that the work is paying off off and at least someone else besides me uses Oriole (yes, Azrael, and that!?)
Among the features of the new Oriole are:

GTK + for graphical (text mode is under reconstruction)

can see the timeline, references, direct messages, bookmarks and user profile allows tweet, delete tweets and retweetable Mark and

uncheck favorite tweets
Supports searches send direct messages (only using the D command)
    has cut services to download URLs

  • users have an interface with improved response (using threads)
  • Notifications integrated with the desktop environment (and sound)
  • Save preferences
  • user mode "wide" a 3 column
  • New API using Twitter secure authentication (OAuth)

How to determine the execution path of a script in BASH



This weekend I was looking for ways to make a BASH script that works as a pitcher for the Oriole and needed to know the execution path itself script.
For a moment I did not know how, but The Great Totuma enlightened me and I remembered the basic parameters of any script ... it was then when he came to my mind the famous
$ 0
.

$ 0 contains the full path of running script. This parameter, along with another little program will allow us to do the magic. Application

dirname
receives a route and returns the same route but without the last component (RTFM
for more information.)
What we do is pass dirname $ 0 and then concatenate the name of any program / script and voila! We will have our automatic launcher. Would something like

# / usr / bin / bash
CWD = $ (dirname $ 0)
sh $ CWD / otro_programa.sh
